Hi.  Welcome to this blog and website.  My name is Stuart Collings, and I’m the author of the “Warrior Queen”/Jennifer Hodges series of novels and short stories.  While I first started writing as a child (I’ll tell you more about that in a later post), I haven’t created anything good enough to stick out there for people to see until now.

The first novel, And What of Earth, introduces us to our protagonist, and sets the stage for the subsequent stories.  As I have laid them out, there are several story arcs that fall under one “super-arc”.  Each story will be complete in and of itself, and hopefully, I’ll manage to write them in such a way that people will be able to “get into” the scenario of each story, without having had to read the entire series thus far.

As the series progresses, we’ll see how living amongst an alien civilization changes Jennifer, and, how her presence with them, and how much she sacrifices for them, changes them.

It’s going to be a wild ride–.

  1. Hi Stuart thank you for sharing your books with us. I read both the 1st and 2nd books and now i am looking forward for the 3rd book. Will it be coming out soon?

    • Hi eskibliss,

As you can see, it’s been a lot longer than I had intended. The third book in the series is now at my beta-readers, and I’m awaiting comments. The first response I got was a cryptic “More please, sir”, which I guess means that she liked it.

I changed the title from Weather Girl to Shadowfall. I just uploaded an excerpt from it.

I hope to have the book published before the end of July 2015.

Thanks for your interest in Jennifer Hodges book series.

  2. Hi eskibliss.

I’m working on the third book. I had to take a break from it because I needed to come up with a plot device that would push the story along. I think that I’ve found one, so it’s just a matter of immersing myself once again into Jennifer’s character and the people around her.

The working title is Weather Girl, and the hook phrase that will appear on the cover (like They were her childhood dream./ She was our only hope. for the first book) will be something along the lines of “Being from a barbarian planet does have its advantages”. Of course, that might change completely as the publication date draws closer.

As for when, I can’t tell you. I’ll publish it as soon as it is ready, perhaps 3 weeks after I finish writing it. At this point in time, I’m thinking that it’ll be out early August. I’m a slow and easily distracted writer I’m afraid.

Thanks for reading the first two books in the series.

  3. I have just read And What of Earth and have now started book 2. What a great story the first one was. I wasn’t happy, I couldn’t put it down so ended up sitting up late last night to finish it.

    • Hi Jowake,

As long as you didn’t get into trouble at work the next day…

As a writer, it’s always great to hear that a reader couldn’t put it down. It means I did something right — either the plot, the pacing or the characters.

Time to be sleepless again. Book three, Shadowfall, is now available. Hopefully, you’ll download it early in the evening this time. 😎

      • Having now read Shadowfall, I do hope you are well on the way to another book. There are lots of questions to be answered from Book 3. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books so far. Oh, and I am retired so if I read all night I can sleep in the following day.
